If you cannot find this brand name in the reviews section of this or any other well-known digicam site, then do not - I repeat - do not buy it! Wait until you can get to a real camera store or a place like Saturn or similar and look at the cameras that are made by the respected manufacturers. Lens and overall build quality on the "off-brand" cameras is usually poor. For the same amount of money, you can do much better.

I have one of these. It performs marvelously. With this kind of price, who can go wrong. FYI Traveler is a European brand well known over there. I've had mine for over a year, and absolutely love it. It is fairly easy to use and does a great job. Go for it. I am a techie who isn't afraid to try something new and this was a great choice. Also, Alidi's if a German based company, so it would make sense its brands come out of the European market. They have been around in Germany (Aldi's) since the 1920a. I do not think they would have survived this long selling substandard merchandise. It really is no different than buying, say, SONY. Traveler just isn't a household word in the US (Yet!). Anyway, Aldi's is very good about taking back malfunctioning merchandise if you keep the receipt. Go for it!

I just contacted their service site for new batteries. If I return my old ones, which I have used and used and used, they will send me new ones because the camera is still under the 3-year warranty. Their website is www.traveler-service.com. I called because there doesn't seem to be a way to order online. The telephone wait was short, and they were extremely helpful and courteous.

Buy, Buy, Buy at this price. I believe that Vivitar may be the manufacturer on this one and Aldi's sells it under a Traveler brand. At least, it is very similar to the ViviCam 4000.

My camera takes Kodak Ezshare battery Klic 500 for a replacement. I was told that Fuji's NP-60 with any mAh above 1000 will work fine as a replacement too. Apparently, I should have received a car charger with my unit when I bought it. They are mailing me one out FREE!

Great service. Great product!

Thumbs up The Best Kept Secret In Photography

Good Morning! What a great camera! When I was looking for a digital camera, I wanted simple, easy to use, inexpensive, but good pictures. I am no expert, but I checked the reviews and people generally were very happy with their purchases.
About 2 months after owning, something happened to the white balance. While possessing no technical skills, I did read the book, which tried to help me, but to no avail.
I then called Traveler (I believe they are in ID or IL), who instructed me to mail it to them. They then REPLACED the camera, and I had it back in less than a week.
I have had it for 2 years, with no further problems! I love it, it's a Slimline X5which I plan on buying for my children also. I think I only paid $179 for it, with 5.2 mp optical zoom and 2.5" LCD.

Hello Connie, This sounds very much like the camera being advertised by Aldi here in Australia. I have a query though. It is advertised as a "Digital Video/Still Camera". Is it a video camera? It only has 64MB of internal memory and no mention of accommodating a memory card.

Livo66,
About a year ago I bought this camera, I think it's the same one, here in The Netherlands. There is a label on it which says "digital still camera" but I can shoot video's (with sound) with it as well. Here it was delivered with a 512MB SD card, two batteries, (car)charger, dockingstation, USB cable and a video cable for your television. It's a great camera. I think I paid EURO 199,--, which is appr. USD 250,--.

Smile camera from aldi's

I bought a traveler 6.31 mp digital camera from aldi's almost 3 years ago now, and I love that little camera. I have taken several pictures, and only one battery is wearing out, and my 3 year warranty will be up in November, so I guess I should contact them now to replace it. I love the compact size, and this makes it so easy to carry with me. My pictures have turned out great, even when enlarged. I also like the ease of switching from color to b&w, or sepia pictures. Another great feature is how easy it for anyone who may never have owned a digital camera, to pick it up, and with a little bit of reading, be able to take pictures.

Wink Traveler camera from Aldi

I bought a Traveler 8.1 megapixel last year and am soooo happy with my purchase. It takes the best pics I have ever and recently took photo's at my nieces wedding and they were amazing! The price was great and I had a minor gliche with the lens protector but they fixed the problem at no cost to me. The service was friendly and efficient, would definately reccommend Traveler to anyone!!
