Question Shutter control
Will the shutter still work if the lens is removed? I plan to use a Canon 20D on a microscope and need only the back of the camera.

Not an expert on this, but i got curious enough to do a little searching. I'm not sure that you can use the camera body without an appropriate lens to focus the image at the filmplane. See the pdf compatibility chart on this site:
