Picture Transfer with Nikon Coolpix L3

Hey guys, just a quick question about transfering files from a nikon coolpix l3

I took some pics with the internal memory one day cause i forgot to put in my SD card. I usually get my pics directly off of my SD card using my laptop.

so im trying to take pictures off my camera using the transfer cord, and nothing is happening...when i turn on my camera, my computer actually freezes and nothing happens. Anyone know whats going on with this? Is there a way to transfer files from internal card to an inserted SD card?
