Question about D200 top display

On the D200 top display, is it normal to display the number of pictures left on the CF card all the time. Even if the camera is turned off. Thanks

Yes. When the card is removed, it displays [-E-] . I seems reasonably useful to me. If you are about to head out, and the display says [ 5], might want to put another card in, or clear the photos off the one that's in there.
