HP will likely tell you it's not repairable and not covered under warranty. That would be the norm for such a camera. As much as I think the "Protection Plans" the retailers try to push down your throat at a rip off, some of them do cover an event like dropping the product and breaking the LCD. May be worth considering next time.

Digicam prices have come down, quality has gone up and there are tons of used cameras available. So pick one with a fairly rugged body. Theres not a lot you can do to avoid such things from happening ... digital cameras are a "precision" piece of electronics.

Default Droppen my camera too

I have an R707 and I broke the LCD. I contacted HP and for $124 they would replace my camera. It was no longer under warranty. So instead I bought a refurbished R717 for $165.

Default hp 407

HI new here. We bought our camera at walmart in warm weather for $154. traveled home to cold weather never dropped the camera and we think that going from extreme cold to a warm house cracked the 1.8" LCD. is this possible, being that it is a liquid crystal, it froze? We contacted hp they wanted us to upgrade for $174. The camera is still usable for taking pics, but cant use any options for the menu, thus can't see what we were doing. So was looking for a replacement screen that I could put on the outside and glue it over the old one. I am going overseas to the sand box and I don't expect the camera to make it through all the dust and sand. I work with electronics on a regular basis. Is there a website that would have a 1.8" LCD screen or smaller. thanks Aeon.
