Default Driver Problem

Hi, we recently won a digital camera. I followed the instructions on installing, but when I try to use ArcSoft PhotoImpression 4 (which came on the install CD), it doesn't read the Digital Camera, the Camera is securely hooked up to the PC and I installed the driver for it (also from CD).

I'm pretty sure it's a driver problem, so does anyone know how I can fix it?

Here are my specifications:
OS: Windows XP
Digital Camera: Sommet Digital CD310C5

I searched for the official website, it was all in Chinese, so I come here for help.

Thanks for reading

- Mortein.

Sorry about the double post, but I need some help on a new problem.

I managed to find out how I can retrieve the pictures from the Camera (or at least I hope I do). It comes up with the folder where it should be contained and everything.

Anyway, my new problem. Now, is that the camera won't start. I hold the power button for three seconds (as it says in the manual) and then it should start with a welcome screen, instead it just stays black and the little red light keeps flashing making a beeping noise.

It works fine when it's connected to the PC though. I don't know what happened, can anyone please help me?

Was the firmware erased somehow? How can I fix it?

If it works when connected to the PC then it's not a firmware problem. Try removing the batteries and the memory card (if there is one) then replacing them and restarting the camera.

It is a freebie camera so don't expect too much from it. I tend to chuck most of the freebies I get into the bin or donate them to charity.

Haha, I feel like such a klutz right now, I replaced the batteries and now it works! I connected it to the computer without batteries and it worked fine, so the batteries must have died! I would never have thought of it, thanks

Good to see I wasn't the only one to get one. The camera now works fine and works very well, time to hit the town

Thanks to you both for replying

Unhappy Driver?

Hey, I received a free Sommet Digital Camera too (and noticed very quickly the extreme speed with which it drains batteries, even when not in use).

So did anyone find a driver that solves the problem? I can't even find the camera as a device on my computer when I've connected it and therefore can't find it's folder to just directly copy the photos out of.

Am a little pissed off with it so any help would be good. I gave up 3 hours of my life to get a free camera that doesn't talk to my computer!
