Question sony w1, finepix f700, nikon or what?

I'm am looking for a compact camera that I can keep in my purse so it's available for all of those unexpected "kodak moments". I currently have a sony dscf707 which is too bulky to carry around all the time but is definately the camera I take to my kid's ice-skating competitions, soccer games, rock concerts, etc. I was pretty much sold on the sony w1 because I already have plenty of memory sticks, but a camera store employee was telling me that the finepixf700 could take photos with quicker recovery (which is important when you are catching those spontaneous moments), and he also said that the large lcd on the sonyw1 might break easily. So now I'm getting confused. Any recommendations for a decent point and shoot with a good lense and quick shot to shot recovery?

The large LCD breaking easily sounds absurd. As for speed... try them both out in the store, see what works for you.
