FZ5 - fish eye lens

Hi,

maybe someone of you knows if there exists any possibility to attach a fish eye lens to the FZ5. Any product recommended - as there´s no official=?

Any lens with 55mm threads will mount to the adapter tube of the FZ5, you may need to sand the front of the adapter down a bit but it will fit.

But do yourself a favor and do not buy one of those off brand so called fisheye lens from Ebay. They are neither what they claim or any good.

If you want a WA lens the Raynox HD6600-55 is about as good as it gets.

The Raynox WA Lens looks nice but i´d really try to go for a full fish eye, not just wide angle. This should be the Raynox DCR-CF185PRO then, seems to fit on the FZ5....but not that cheap anymore.

something else i stumbled across is this Lomo-Adaptor. Should fit and should be near to the full circle - at least that´s what the page says (full circle with 28mm, FZ5 is 35mm focal length). Don´t know about the quality, but lomo is usually decent stuff.

Do not believe what these people advertise..28mm is what you get with the 6600.

I have contacted Raynox about several lenses and their advice was always correct. Even when it cost them a sale.

But do not forget that Tele lens or WA lens that do as they say with a small lens camera do not work very well with lens the size of the FZ cameras.

what these people are advertising is that you get a full circular view when the original lens is 28mm - as the lens says "0.42x" it converts 28 to 11.76mm. it should convert 35mm (fz5) to around 14,7mm. if it works, this should be enough - not full circular, but with the edges at least visible. see the pics here

and as this lens is designed for SLR´s it shouldn´t be too small - only thing i worry about is if it fits to the FZ5...

raynox is really nice, but not really my budget.

Hi,
I am quite sure it will work fine with fz5. i don't own fz5 but an old fz10, an i have use different wide converter like HAMA HR5 0,5x, Minolta ZCW100 0,75x and currently Raynox 6600 0,6x. Common design with these converter are that the rear lens element is not protruding beyond the converter rear thread. With the included filter ring it should fit to fz5 adapter.

Personally, i don't care what brand the converter is stamped with, and since everyone have different 'taste' for image 'flavour', issues like vignetting, light fall off, softness, CA, p. fringing, flare, etc. is might as well seen differently.

But 85Euro for that converter is i think quite EXPENSIVE, i've catch that HR5 for 20E, ZCW100 for 40E and Raynox6600 for 60E on eBay

Btw, lomo 'mindset' is based around film and spontaneous capture, it might have designed to capture as wide as possible, not as accurate as possible. Personally, if it's much cheaper, i will definitely get one (if not thinking about film workflow & cost, i will buy that 40E fisheye camera promptly).

Maybe you could try eBay, or buy it new & if you don't like it, sent it to eBay

Lastly, If you bought one, please do sent the pics you capture with it...

that´s a good point - if it´s good value for the money.... basically, on ebay you can find some fisheye lenses floating around for like 35 dollar, and some of them seem to be pretty similar, even having the same 10yrs guarantee and being from japan. so it could be the same lens, relabelled and sold for 50 bucks more.
i hope this is not the case and the quality is worth the 80 euro...

anyways, i´ll have a look at this thing next week at lomo´s headquarter. and if i buy it, i´ll post some pics for sure

I picked up an Olympus WCON-07 wide-angle conversion lens on eBay and use it with my FZ5. It screws right onto the FZ5 lens hood adapter (same thread sizes). It's a 0.7x wide-angle conversion lens. It's a bit heavy compared to the FZ5, so be aware.

How effective is the WCON-07 lens? How is the image quality at 28mm?
