Using cell phone mic as remote?

Alright so I read those posts regarding using cell phone mics as remote for the D Reb 300 and I'm wondering if it matters which brand of mics that I use. For example I know the Nokia mic plugs have three strips of black while all the others have two strips. Does this matter?
