Exclamation Canon SD500 vs A620 and SD450 vs A610

Hi,

I am looking to purchase a 5-7MP Canon camera and I liked the model design for the SD range. I was inclined towards the SD500 until I read a thread which clarified that higher resolution doesnt indicate better image quality.

However, I'd like to know if there is any improvement in the image quality from SD450 to SD500. Also, if I have to choose between a SD450 and A610 OR SD500 and A620, which one should I go for and why?

My application is nothing professional, just looking to get some good quality images. I have recently begun to take interest in nature photography and so a good quality image would be a nice idea.

Your comments are very welcome and appreciated!
Cheers,
Mstripat

It helps to read Jeff Keller's reviews and look at the sample pictures.
The SD450 is intended to be a stylish ultra compact, the SD500 a stylish ultra compact which is a bit bigger to accomodate the 7mp sensor and a bit better lens, and the A6xx is intended to give you as much camera as possible for the money (even better lens, manual controls and swivelable display).

So, it is up to you which one to choose, what you find more important. Image quality wise the A610 and A620 perform a bit better, since their size allows for a better lens.

If you want to explore photography further one of A6#0s should be the chosen one. A6#0 cams are larger than SD###- but still fit into purse and jacket. You can select preset modes for snapshooting and still have all the manual controls when you want to over-ride the camera's settings. On top of that A6#0 also have optional tele and macro lenses.
