Default Canon SD550 vs. Fuji F10

I'm looking for a compact camera that can take good pictures in a range of lighting conditions. In particular, I've been debating between the Fuji F10 and the Canon SD550.

I previously had a Canon S30, which I loved. The few things I didn't like about it were the size (I'm looknig for something a bit smaller), and that I never got clear pictures when using the zoom. I've played a bit with the Fuji F10, and I like the responsiveness, and it's gooten good reviews. However, I've noticed that it likes to use longer exposure times or higher ISO settings in similar lighting compared to the Canon SD550 (based on quick tests I did in the store). Has anyone alse found this? Is this normal?

Specifics:

Budget: not much of an issue
Size: ultra-compact / compact. Something I can take with me everywhere. I had a Canon S30 before, and I'm looking for something a bit smaller.
Optical Zoom: At least 3x (100mm)
Image quality: My main consideration. Very important!
manual controls: would be great, but I can live with limited adjustability, such as setting the ISO.
Use: Most of the pictures I take are indoors or evening. Sometimes I take action shots.
