Default Singapore

Hi all,
I'm in Singapore at the moment and just wanted to let you know it seems you *can* get cameras cheaply here. I wasn't sure before I came, so bought my Fuji Finepix F10 in Australia for $650 AUD (claiming back the GST made it about $590). In a place on Orchard Rd near Lucky Plaza I found the same camera for $500 SGD, and was quickly offered $460 - you could probably do even better. ($500 SGD is about $415 or so).

There are a massive number of digital camera shops - not sure why there are so many, but they're just lined up side by side. I wouldn't call the staff particularly knowledgeable of course...

On the other hand, I tried the Mustafa Centre for memory cards and was disappointed to see XD cards at the same price as at home. All the smaller shops are *extremely* willing to bargain.

Hope this helps some future traveller to Singapore

Steve
