Default Faster Picture Taking? [olympus c-5060]

Anyway to make it actually take the picture right when you press the button without it autofocusing for you?

In general you can put the camera into full manual mode, including focus, and preset everything. The next best step would be to lock the ISO and white balance, then set manual focus. Letting the camera do just the basics that a film camera does, shutter speed and aperature, should be reasonably quick.

I'm not familiar with Olympus cameras, but see if you can do something similar to this.

Determine the hyperfocal length, manually set that focus -- custom set that -- and you can point and shoot with minimal lag.

Wrotniak has written the best online goide to the Oly 50xx series. He calculated the hyperfocal distances for the 5060 here:

I'm pretty sure there's also a continuous autofocus mode (haven't used it myself). I would think that would cut out most, if not all, of the focus lag. Might bite into your battery time, though.
