Back in the day when I was doing roofing dtk, I worked with an old black man. One of the finest men I've ever known and he taught me a lot. I was telling him how I was sticking pins in my Jimmie Johnson voodoo doll, etc to bring him some bad luck. He told me
"son, you don't need to be messing with that voodoo stuff, that's nothing but trouble. It'll stir up the haints and make your life hell." I asked him what a haint was and he replied,
"a haint is a spirit, a ghost and they are bad when you mess with voodoo." It was something I'd never heard before and it has stuck with me to this day and brings a smile to my face when I use it.
