According to DPRs review of the 7D, they used ACR beta 5.6 for RAW conversion. Not sure how they got a hold of it since the latest beta is still 5.5 which does not work with 7D RAW files.
ACR 5.5 is no longer in beta, and has been released for a while actually (Sept. 14). It works just fine with my 7D RAW files in Elements 7.
from what i read 7D sounds like best non-FF camera out there! class leading noise performance and resolution, plus it is very very fast and is priced attractively.

Just don't go saying that on the Nikon forum, LOL.
I'm super happy with it as a still camera and a serious upgrade from the 30D. Attractive price? Just give it 6 months.
On the negative: I'm not finding much use for the non-AF video. Others seem to but without a focusing screen narrow DOF in less than full lighting seems unrealistic for the unskilled. Isn't the Nikon AF during video?

The 7D does AF during video recording, using the AF-ON button or a partial push of the shutter release.

I bought a new camera. It's very advanced - you don't even need it. ~Steven Wright
It does do AF, but it's a bit pants. To all intense purposes, it's a MF video function. The AF on all DSLR video modes, just isn't smooth enough to use.
Like Rooz has said many a time, it's still 1st generation AF video tech in the slr's so the best results come from MF.
I'm happy with that, as I want to be in control of what I am focussing on at all times. That's why a bought into Video in slr's now.
