Stupidly, I read a post on POTN whilst I was updating my firmware to 1.1.0, that mentioned a noise coming from the sensor when it cleans.

Some people said they didn't notice it on 1.0.9, and some people said it's now worse. There were others that said it has always been there, even on their other cameras, and some that have never heard it.

So does anyone else hear it?

Hold the camera to your ear and turn it on. When it does the auto sensor clean, mine goes.. "click, squeak, click, squeak"

Thing is, I don't know if my 40D ever did it cos I never even thought about it until I read this thread, and I don't know if my 7D did it before the firmware update, or if the firmware made it worse.

I'm really just asking if everyone else has it and if its normal.

I really need to stop reading threads on the 7D that aren't photo releated

Mine goes 'ta ta ta ta ta taaaa at' or something like that if I stick the camera next to my ear.

I swear I can't hear anything from mine, totally silent.

Had a bit more time to play today.

Did some tracking of birds in flight. The focus was great. Especially as I was shooting with the 85mm and they were tiny in shot. Had to do 50% crops to get anywhere close.

Anyway, still loving everything about the camera. I just wish it didn't have the squeak click thing on the sensor clean. I'm still wondering if I should get another?

Here are some pics

According to DPRs review of the 7D, they used ACR beta 5.6 for RAW conversion. Not sure how they got a hold of it since the latest beta is still 5.5 which does not work with 7D RAW files.
