playing with natural light and settings for the 1st time.

I got brave and I took the camera off of auto. yeah me. I tried the whole natural light thing and this is what I got. All three were shot with my D-rebel with the canon 28-90 lense ISO 1600. I still have so much to learn, but I finally got the nerve up to do it when my hubby said "hey it's digital if you don;t like it erase it and try again. It's not like yur wasting film. Right" Hmmnn words to live by. anyway I thought for a 1st effort they were ok, I even got me some catchlights Any CC is welcome.

Howdy, congrats on bravin' it and gettin' out of auto.

The black and white is great. The images are soft, but that works for it since they are baby pics. The background blur is nice too.

very nicely done indeed, id be happy with those...Thats a great place to start if you ask me... you're only gonna get better, however, you'll have a bad one or two or three or four in there, but just like your husband said, delete it! I do that too!

The grain is really nice, actually. A lot of people seem to think that a tack sharp, no visible grain image is the only thing that cuts it...

I disagree. Available light high iso shots, especially black and white, are beautiful and possess a great deal of "character"

Great pictures... nice depth of field...

Buy a 50 MM F 1.8 lens for natural light, you'll be astounded (plus you'll be able to lower ISO a step or two) 70$ or so.

Otherwise not bad, maybe a bit too overexposed on first 2.

    A second thought:

Blank CDR and DVD media are pretty cheap now. Don't erase anything! Transfer everything and burn it to an archive. You never know when a detail in a "bad" shot gives you something you need.

    But that's just my opinion.
