Olympus C310Z poor battery life

I am very happy with digital cameras but bought a C310Z for my wife. Using Uniross 1300mAH batteries I find that the red "low battery" indicator appears after very few shots have been taken . This compares appallingly with my Canon D30 which just goes on and on with one charge. Anyone else found this problem?

I'd try batteries with a higher capacity. 2500 mah or more is quite common these days. I have an Oly that shipped 5 years ago that came with 1650 mah NIMH's and a charger. Your batteries may be past their prime, or, if new, NIMH's have to be cycled a few times to reach their full potential.
