Cannon High Power Flash (for powershot)

It's no secret that the one flaw with the SD400 is its low light photos, especially with the zoom. Does anyone have/use the powershot high power flash (HF-DC1)? Does it help that problem? Do you have any other suggestions (settings maybe) that you have found to make these shots better?

I use the HF-DC1 with the SD500 and it works well (it should give you another 15-ft. of coverage). But, it has two drawbacks: 1) It's way expensive for what it is. 2) It doesn't have a swivel head, so you can't "bounce" the flash. There is another viable alternative...you could use the Vivitar DF200 slave flash http://www.adorama.com/VVDF200.html with this bracket http://www.adorama.com/FABS.html?sea...cket&item_no=1 and then you have more flexibility and greater output. The disadvantage with this setup is the flash is larger then the camera itself!
