    Which camera should I buy?

    Budget

    * What budget have you allocated for buying this camera? Please be as specific as possible.

    $400.

    Size

    * What size camera are you looking for? Or does size not matter at all to you?

    Does not matter.

    Features

How many megapixels will suffice for you? 5 at least

    * What optical zoom will you need? (None, Standard = 3x-4x, Ultrazoom = 10x-12x, Other - Specify)

3-4 is good but I will rather 10x.

    * How important is “image quality” to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10)

    10, very important.

Do you care for manual controls?

    Yes.

    General Usage

    * What will you generally use the camera for?

parties, scenic views, big prints, vacation.

    * Will you be making big prints of your photos or not?

    yes. a lot.

Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos?

    yes. a lot.

Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos?

    not really.

    Miscellaneous

Are there particular brands you like or hate?

No. Since I don't know much about cameras, I really don't have a favorite.

Are there particular models you already have in mind?

Yes all in the rage of $350 to $400. These are the ones I'm debating in.

    - Canon A95 - 5.0MP, 3x optical, 4x digital.
    - Canon SD400 - 5.0MP, 3x optical, 4x digital.
    - Fuji F10 - 6.3MP, 3x optical, 6.2 digital.
    - Kodak Z7590 - 5MP, 10x optical, 3x digital.
    - Olympus C7000 - 7.1MP, 5x optical, 6x digital.

I want a camera with awesome picture quality in low light (night shots) conditions as well as day pictures. I'll sacrifice zoom Vs. quality.

    Please help.

(If applicable) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD)

    NO.

Thank you very much for your help.

    Regards.
    Alex.

The Canon Powershot S2 IS does satisfy all your needs - Great low light, 12x optical zoom, 5 megapixels, image stabilizer, rotating LCD, manual controls and tough look/feel
Where is the 8 MP Elph?

Different cameras for different needs and shooting situations...

I have a G6 and an SD500, but next week, I'll be picking up an S2 in addition (to be honest, I'm not happy about 5MP on a 1/2.5 sensor, though). If I had to keep only one, it would be the G6 (the best non dSLR in my opinion)...even though I haven't used it once since getting my SD500 (it's hard to resist having that much photographic power in your shirt pocket!)...

I just relealised, this probably didn't help...

    - Canon A95 - 5.0MP, 3x optical, 4x digital.
    - Canon SD400 - 5.0MP, 3x optical, 4x digital.
    - Fuji F10 - 6.3MP, 3x optical, 6.2 digital.
    - Kodak Z7590 - 5MP, 10x optical, 3x digital.
    - Olympus C7000 - 7.1MP, 5x optical, 6x digital.

    Thanks everybody for your help.

HEY GO WITH THE Sony Cyber-shot DSC-V3...I DECIDED THAT'S THE ONE IM GONNA PURCHASE BECAUSE I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE NIGHT FRAMMING SHOT. HAS GREAT QUALITY PICS ESPECIALLY IF YOU USE THE APERTURE CORRECTLY, GREAT MACRO SHOTS (SAME AS G-6) AND TOP NOTCH MOVIE MODE. I'M SOLD PLUS KNOWING THAT G-6 HAS ANOTHER REDISGNED COMMING OUT SOON I'D RATHER WAIT DOWN THE ROAD FOR AN UPGRADE.

Personally, I dont like Sony products. I'm going to get the A95 I think, I'm pretty much in the same situation as you are.

Let me know what you choose

I'm going I think with the canon s2 IS. If I decide I don't like the way it handles I'm going to with either Canon G6 or Panasonic Z5. I'm stearing clear of sony only due to the fact that my store had never met a sony rep and they say its pretty hard to get any customer satisfaction out of sony where as the others come buy at the very least once a month. Let me know how you like the A95
