It's a cool area. Lots of arches. This is by far the most convenient though.

I've seen similar shots of that arch before, but I think you had better weather than most.
Since the end didn't come, business as usual. One day, one location, four shots:

Yeah, the composition isn't unique, but I was in the area so I thought I'd give it a sunrise. I like 2 best from your series, but I'm sure that's no surprise.
Here's one from a little trip up to Oregon...

raven: great idea, especially when viewed here where the outside temp is 41°C. I notice you wimped out for the night-time shot and went indoors ( ). What's the reflection in the glass door -- a wood-burning fire box?
Lukas: If you'd have said the location was somewhere off a remote mystical Japanese island I'd have believed you. Just has that Oriental look about it. Lovely.
Nikon D7000 and a bunch of Nikon stuff — oh, and some Canon p&s's too

There was an interesting article on Luminous Landscape recently about photo composition in the style of oriental paintings.http://www.luminous-landscape.com/th...tography.shtml

My preference is #3 because it was an impressive night, I might have a shot at re-processing #2 to see if I can improve the colors though.
I like the mist in yours. I think I need to get out more.
Sir Les, actually #3 is a night shot also, about six hours after sunset. That is a wood stove with glass window in #4, I was trying to get that in the reflection on purpose.

Yes cool shots and a nice idea Raven. Don't blame you for wimping out and going indoors though, it looks pretty cold.
Another beautiful seascape Lukas, a very atmospheric feel to that one.

Haha, you do post a lot of shots from the porch. It's a worthy view though.
Thanks guys! Here's another one from Oregon...

Lukas - your photo must have been shot on the japanese side of Oregon Really beautiful and moody!
Now, I think the below one is more a landscape than old building shot ...

Thanks Gabriel! That's a landscape for sure! Very nice shot. The comp works well. Love that location. Where is it?
This was the sunrise on our drive up to Oregon...
