Nice work Mike. I like the one with the house. The water is so clear you can see the bottom. Where were these taken?

    Hey guys,

Thanks so much for your positive comments. It's really encouraging. Especially after looking at your albums.

Anyway, as for where the photos were taken.

1st: This was taken near San Pedro de Atacama, Chile. It's a tour you can to do some high altitude lagoons (about 4200 meters). These lagoons are perfect for taking pictures as it's hard to take a bad shot at them.

2nd: This is called Lago Huechulaufquen (sp?) in Argentina. Again, this was taken on a tour to a volcano called Volcan Lanin, it's the snow caped main peak to the right. Beautiful place and perfect time of year.

3rd: This is at a place called Los Saltos De Petrohue, north of Puerto Montt in Chile. A beautiful cascades in front of Volcan Osorno in Southern Chile.

4th: This is from a peak called Poon Hill in Nepal. If you ever get a chance, go there. This was part of a larger trek, but the view from here was incredible of the Himalayas. From this hill you can see some beautiful peaks like Dhaulagiri (10th highest), Annapurna, and Macchapucchre (fish tail peak).

Well, again, thanks guys for all your positive comments. I look forward to posting some more of what I've done here eventually. I also look forward to reading these forums more and learning more stills and abilities from all of you.

    -Mike

    Tricky shot digital. Nicely done.

Do you have a polariser? I'm curious if that would have darkened the sky and proportanately lightened the forground.

Posted this in the Nikon section few weeks ago, decided to post it here aswell . Haven't checked out this thread for a while, nice pictures guys keep them coming.

We don't usually get this much snow here, it all came down in 2 days but melted away during the next week. At the moment we got no snow here, looks like we wont get any for christmas either.

No filters on my Kodak P&S. I lightened the image by increasing midtones about 10% and this made the foreground more visible but also lightened the sky. I am starting to play with Gimp to see if it can do selective editing with layers.

mellinger, that last one is truly stunning. That sort of magical light falling on a mountain is the sort of thing I would love to see, especially with a camera. I have seen lots of magical light on mountains, but nothing quite like that. I'm going back to China soon, maybe I can arrange a 2000 mile or so detour.

Aldor88, dig-it-all, great shots. I'll have to raise my standards.

Here are few shots from Natural Bridges SB. I've been meaning to go out there again. I finally got around to it right before storm rolled in.

    Hey all.....

Hadn't picked up the camera for over three weeks as I had some surgery that really sent me for a loop. Everything that could go wrong, did. I'm on the mend now and picked up the camera yesterday. It felt good to look at the world through the viewfinder once again. Looking out over Ma Natures gifts, and breathing in a lung full of fresh chilled air...is all the therapy I need!
I hope you enjoy what I brought to share. I sure know I enjoyed capturing it
