Nice shot, Sharon. I bet you would really enjoy a neutral density graduated filter. They come in handy for shots like this so you can get the nice colors out of the sky and still have the ground well-exposed. You would probably want a really strong one, like a factor of 1.2. If you're interested, this is where I bought mine.

Thank you, toriaj. And thanks for the link, although being a Canuck I normally only order from Canadian sites because of duties, shipping, etc. Yes, you're right, I really do need a set of GND filters and have wanted them for awhile now. A bit pricey, but I have been considering ordering the Lee 3-filter soft GND set at the bottom of the page when I have some spare cash.

I used some graduated neutral density filters for the first time the other day. Only had the chance to use them once though. I've been wanting them for quite a while now. I used the Singh Ray Galen Rowell hard-step 2-stop and hard-step 3-stop graduated neutral density:

Brian, that is nice, I like most of the photos you post. Can't wait to see more of your landscapes now that you have your GND filters. Do you have a gallery one could browse through online?

EDIT: Does anybody know if Singh-Ray filters are available to buy in Canada, through a CAD distributor?

Thanks so much. Unfortunately I don't a website of my own(yet)but I do use a number of art sharing community sites. Here are two I use regularly:

    My Gallery At RedBubble

    My Gallery At DeviantART

I don't know if they're available through a CAD distributer, sorry.

Brian, thanks for posting both links, I especially enjoyed the 'redbubble' gallery and the way you give background info on each photo. You should leave the links in your signature for others to browse through because, wow(!), you are one helluva photographer! There were so many I found beautiful that it would be impossible to choose a fave, but I especially liked these half dozen or so: "Sublime", "Harem", "Stinson Beach", "Starlite Fire", "Sunkist", and "Fenced In." And only 23......again, wow!

We are experiencing a pretty tame winter so far, here in the Pacific Northwest, and it has led to some nice winter shots. I hope you enjoy these....

Nice shots. I really like the lighting and subtle tones of the first shot. Good job.

Brian, nice picture. Great use of the grad filter.
