Thanks for the coments; that was my favorite photo from the 10 or so I took. I did not take many due to the time constraint and exhaustion. It was also bit hazy in one direction.

The snow shoe walk was my first time and a good way to get around although the bottom of my feet were a bit raw; I assume the size of the snow shoe twists the boots a bit.

Time to get you a micro 4/3 camera
I have been thinking about doing that or perhaps one of the cameras with a APC sized sensor in the smaller body; I can not remember which they are offhand. I have yet to see some other peoples photos but one guy used a compact and he took a lot more photos due to conveniance but they did not seem to have such a good dynamic range.

    So, which location is better?
I prefer the first location; the second looks a bit empty.

    Raven,

I like both locations. I actually like the grass in the first, but assumed if you went back later in the season it might have grown too tall. However, it might be nice a bit greener.

The first has my vote. Can't make out the marsh grasses in the second and I like the snow capped peaks to the left with greater presence as well.

Here is a shot of the Carmel River entering the Pacific... through the sand berm... underground.

The River wetlands are behind me (Pano posted in the Nikon POD thread).

Thanks, #1 was my choice too but my girlfriend said #2 so I started doubting myself.
Those are cattails by the way. I don't think they grow taller later. I'm not a plant expert, I think they have to start again from the bottom up? So if anything they'd be shorter and greener. These are pretty dead looking.

You got some nice blues and greens in that sea shot.

Yeah, I think the camera is finally getting the hang of it.

Another vote for the one with the cattails in the front.
