No doubt it was helped along by the rotating, sliding, grad ND filter and the "tripod" which was the smallest gorrillapod available in Walmart attached to a sapling that swayed in the breeze.

I especially like the second with the foreground. The second doesn't have foreground, and also has a strange color cast even compared to what I would expect from a shot when the son was recently down.

dan, this is no HDR.

i lost my trustworthy DPP and use now Aperture program which is not that great. still have to install Lightroom which must be a better tool.

photos taken with GND filter + Warm Color Filter and fill in flash in the second shot (a small pop up gizmo on my camera) to fool the camera a bit.

perhaps i have to reprocess, but i thought that vivid coloration would make images less boring.

as regards after sunset evening image you will not believe but it was about like this, just more grayish i would say, so i decided to add a bit of color.

anyway, thanks for opinions, perhaps i have to play around with them again perhaps for more realistic result.

I really like the composition and point of view in the butterfly (fritillary of some type?) The flowers and mountain are nice in concept, but don't work as well. I think it is the bright lighting on the out of focus distant hills drawing the eye away from the foreground.

I agree with that I have to deliberatly look down to the flowers where as the butterfly draws my eye straight away.
