here is another set of pix, the first two of rural landscape in Upper Austria. The next two from Regensburg (Germany) on a sunny day, and the last two a calm quiet evening in Nurnberg. Enjoy

Great view - lovely colours - perfect exposure ~ I would be interested to know a few techie details if pos - even though your camera a different model to mine - especially colour/Sat/WB etc
Also, love the Castellabate in Southern Italy shot earlier!

This picture was actually three pictures. I took these in bracketing mode; they were exposed -2.7EV, -0.7EV and 1.3EV. I alligned them in PTGUI (the panorama editor) and exported each image seperatly (so without blending).

I used Photomatix to create a HDR of those and tonemapped it. I exported the result as a 16 bit tiff file (to give more options for making some adjustmenst later on). Then in Capture NX I ran some D-Lighting (shadow/highlight tool) on the trees and used Colour Control points to improve the contrast of the trees and sky.

I wrote a hdr tutorial a while back that explains the process in more detail. The link is in my signature.

Thx Geoff, I am still experimenting and learning which is not easy at all. I confess I shoot about 10-15 pix of the same subject at different settings and tweaking settings accordingly in order to pull a good shot. And I must learn post processing techniques, which still a mystery for me. However you right, I love DSLR photography so much now that I could not imagine before buying the camera. So I keep on shooting whenever have time.

PS: and the most important I am still developing my eye for the situations, not an easy task.

No Control, great B&W situations speaking for themselves, I still learning how to pick the right situations for B&W. My eye needs to be developed for more situations. Funnily my wife has a great eye and she likes going with me out for a photo session. So I am thinking of handing her a DSLR too.

Prospero, amazing colors and places, I liked esp. Italy shot from terrace at dawn and that one where you post processed a wide angle shot of some street. Shows me well I must learn PP techniques.

All in all, may you not believe but I scrolled through the entire thread going page by page and so many awesome shots and situations, simply mind breaking. So thanks to all who posted and keep on posting. This thread and abstracts are my big favorites.

Thanks Gintaras! Truth is I took both color and b+w of each of these pictures, but I knew once I saw them that I liked the b+w versions better. I got myself up early as I could to take these pictuers [around 8, hey I was on vacation ] but maybe around sunrise/sunset the colors would make a color version pop more.

Thanks Gintares. The shot of the terrace at dawn was also post processed heavily. There I boosted the brightness and saturation of the red colours in the forground to give the fence more pop.

Here's another shot, taken in the Yorkshire Dales. Unlike the pictures from Italy, almost all pictures I took in Great Britain lack a blue sky..
