    Dslr zoom button ?

Question from a newbee (hardly dare to post it).
I read the reviews on the D-SLRS's (canon rebel xt, nikon d70), but I don't see anything like a zoom button (in record mode).
Don't these camera's have them or am I simply looking over them ?

DSLR's don't have zoom buttons. The zoom "feature" is on the lens themselves. In many cases, it's a matter of twisting the zoom ring. Believe me, it's a million times better than zooming electronically, because this gives you unlimited precision as opposed to settling for a "stop" along the way for a point and shoot.

Do you mean that the lens itself zooms (to focus) ?
So, if I point "the middle" of the viewfinder at something closeby, it will by itself go to the wide-setting, and pointing at something far away will cause it to go to the 'tele'-setting ?
And if I'm not happy with it, I just adjust it a little by hand ?

Camera never zooms for you, it focuses for you.

To zoom, you twist the "zoom" ring on the lense. That's it.
