Someone, somewhere a week or two back posted a comment to the effect that thye felt a bit shy about taking photographs of people "on the street". I am just back from a short break in Paris. Saturday afternoon was the Paris "Gay Pride" march. I spent a couple of hours with a long lens photographing the participants. I have never seen people more willing to have me take pictures than the participants in that parade. Point a lens in anyone's direction and they'd stop and willingly smile for the camera. I'm not gay, lesbian bi- or trans- but the afternoon was a complete hoot. I haven't laughed as much in years.

I'll post a few more as time permits - but here's a starter:

Here's a shot of my dad. Shot with my 50mm f1.8 Nikkor. Converted to BW and upped the contrast via USM.

Nice portrait. I haven't used B&W for years. Early days in the darkroom with Ilford FP4, or something like that... long time back, anyhow.

This guy was one of a group of "Dixieland"-style jazz musicians on Ile St Louis, Paris last weekend, just before the gay pride march (see a page back). They were great. I remember this guy from my last few stopovers in Paris.

Prat. Try again, with the picture this time !

    My favorite photo subject

Here is a picture of my favorite subject, my daughter.

The photo was kinda backlit. It was a beautiful sunny day. My daughter just loves lounging around on the grass.

I really love this picture. It says so much. This is one that looks a lot better in B&W. Good job!
