I really liked your swing shot. Can you tell us a little bit about how you managed to get into such perfect postition to take it? How many shots did you have to take to get the one we see here? Any other details?
Well, I was standing approximately 15 meters (50 feet? I'm not good with the inch/feet system) away from the swing. I took almost 30 pictures (all in auto mode, 135 mm focal length), from which only 2 or 3 were out of focus. I chose this particular one to post because I liked the expressions on their faces.
D70s Nikkor 50mm 1.8 and applied soft filter in CS2
Nice!
On first glance, I thought they were from a Canon 85 f1.8, a renound portriat lense. Noticed the nice softness except on #4 then read your comment that softness was applied. Good call.
Never seen this lense demonstrated before. Very nice and like the bokeh - more pleasent than the harder bokeh on the Canon 50mm f1.8. Beautiful results (and model).
Esoterra: bokeh is the quality of the blurred cones of out of focus light, usually in the background of pictures with shallow dof. I agree, nicely done
Vich, thanks for the nice comments. BTW.. what exactly is bokeh?
Note: All links below are not my shots. They are links to publically viewable (yet copyrighted) photos on PBASE.COM. For each; click "previous / next" for more samples.
Here's a link to a photo posted on pbase.com (note: not my photo). This was taken with the Canon 85mm f1.8, known for it's silky bokeh. http://www.pbase.com/image/43530876
Bad bokeh shows up most on points of light in the blurred background. Its not an issue if the DOF (Depth of Field) is wide enough so nothing is seriously OOF (Out of Focus).
Also; "bad" is a matter of taste. If you like lighted pentagrams randomly dotting the background, then the $75 Canon 50mm f1.8 Mk II is a good one for high DOF shooting! I notice your Nikon 50mm f1.8 makes nice soft perfectly circular shapes, when it makes any shapes at all. Very impressive! I like it.
Here's one - taken at a 40th birthday party
My mate (not his 40th) was peacefully sleeping throughout
the celebrations.
As I am doing more and more - no PP except a resize.
KM A-200, ISO 200, 50th sec(AS) @ F 3.5, 164mm equiv, I think it

resized for posting - no other changes
