Nice shots rubdub, but not very abstract. In my opinion, abstract means eye catching and not immediately identifiable.

    Nabstract

I saw this while walking through the woods - snow with patches of forest floor appearing. It reminded me of a Jackson Pollock painting. I manipulated the image to increase contrast and decrease midtones and this is the result. I call it a Nature abstract, Nabstract.

Abstract shot - several reasons for posting.

    1) to show you can manage a slow esposure if you take care
    2) to show that the Sigma 17 - 70 can get pretty close
    3) to show you can get a satisfactory result straight out of the camera

This is a moisturiser pot which is 5cm high.
I took it very close up - I can get a bit closer and also zoom in more - but
then you won't get either the whole pot in - or the wide angle effect I wanted. 32mm (48mm equiv)
    f10, 1.8secs, manual WB 5300K +0.3ev ISO100
wedged the end of the lens on the shelf - held still.
This is not adjusted - only a resize - no sharpening or colour or exposure tweaks.
If you have no tripod - find a way to wedge the camera - this shows it can be done.
