No exposure compensation, no image editing strait from the camera.

Use the "cloning" tool, which is 4th down on the left on my tools palette. It looks like a rubber stamp.
Enlarge the image as much as possible. Select a small patch of color matching the color you want. "Clone" it where the thread is.

This is Barrie's major waterfront scuplture. It is supposed to be some sort of dream catcher and was built in 1986. (my birth year!)
