It's the railing on my deck. So the pattern is the wood underneath the frost.

Not really an abstract as such - but the orig Leaf thread seems to have fallen off the end a while back...
Here I am just bored messing around - this shot was cropped due to a terrible
shadow from the lens with the onboard flash!!
It is a tiny leaf on my grass in the back garden - approx 2.5 " long

This one was closer in so much less cropped - just a tiny bit required to remove that nasty shadow

(The shadow was due to the large front filter ring on the Sigma 17 - 70, this lens is pleasing me less and less each time I use it!!)

Isn't it supposed to be a pretty good one? Pentax just released a 17-70 f/4. It's tempting.

    Nyeah!!
    Siggy is a mixed bag!!
Best shots are lovely and sharp, worst are horrid with blurred edges and a nasty cast. (Not a regular occurance I hasten to add)
It is handy to have that close up available without swapping lenses - but I reckon midrange to infinity shots are compromsed as a result.

I think I would prefer a tak sharp wide to mid zoom and a seperate macro.
Nuffin actually wrong with the Siggy - so I think I will sell it.

I think Geoff meant his on-board flash use makes him dislike the lens, not the other way around.

    George - get a flash :-)
