looks like a hummingbird, but the shutter speed was much too low...am i close?
You are right. I'm so glad it is recognizable. My shutter was setup to sport mode, which is relativly high speed. I probably need to take pictures of hummings with manual settings. Do you know what shutter speed should I use?
i've personally been successful with the shutter speed @ 1/2000th of a second...but not many cameras shoot that fast. as far as ISO or aperature, it's completely dependent on lighting condition. i'm willing to bet from judging the light available in the pic, if bracketed, f/8-f/11 and an ISO of 160 would have done the trick in that situation...but it's just a guess.
it's the one thing i love about digital photography. it can be adjusted literally on the fly, with feedback of whether or not the image was properly taken. that, and it's quiet.
Thank you, phistio.
I'm really interested in photographing humming birds and I can take them next to a flower more or less OK, like you could see at the attached pictures, but have you ever got a picture of them in fly, or when they fight each other. I'm going to start a new thread for such pictures. Please post yours there.
Thank you.
