I think Geoff meant his on-board flash use makes him dislike the lens, not the other way around.

Somewhere inbetween I guess - the flash just added to a list of minor quibbles ~ the lens ring is 72mm and many flash images with the onboard flash and this lens result in a large dark curve at the bottom of the image..
This is frustrating if you suddenly need a little extra light and haven't got the seperate flash to hand.

I do feel the lens is biased towards close ups more - which is fine if that's mostly what you want it for.
Cloned out distracting stuff to the point that it's now an abstract.
