I created this image for Nikon's annual photo contest and mainly for fun and leaning. Boy did I learn a lot, especially about lighting and using photoshop.
The image made up of 4 photos, the background, the upwards glass, the downwards glass and the wine pouring out of glass.
Generally I'm happy with the result, some things could have been better, but that's always the case.
I haven't looked here for a while so enjoyed catching up. Bestdog that's a nice mixed up photograph, how did you get the wine in that downward glass to pour like that?

Hi Phill,
in creating the downward shot, I made a 45 degree frame, drilled a hole in it. Took the wine glass, glued a thread to bottom. Placed glass on frame (from underneath) with thread through the hole and then held secure with a wingnut.
I had ground a hole in the wine glass near the base and passed a plastic tube through the hole then poured the liquid through the tube and hence out of the glass. It was important to my vision of the image that the liquid poured both in and out of the glasses naturally.
I'll post some of the "working" photos to show how it was done.
As promised here's a 'working photo' of how I manufactured the downwards glass and wine pouring out.
Lighting was handled by the sb-800 using wireless connection. The flash was positioned on the bench (bottom left, just out of picture) with flash head pointed at the wine glass
