It looked easy to separate the foreground, so I gave it a quick edit to change the color in the foreground. Not sure I like it better.

Agree, that some problem in color rendition. Frankly speaking if i drop down saturation then it might be more consistent but then the whole image will slightly less appealing. That sunset was simply amazing and it was only 15 celsius plus when in lowland was 32, and it was so windy up the hill then i understood how the wind can sing :-)

Here's a tele shot I got recently that I was advised to crop into a letterbox pano style. What do you guys think?

hi Phill, nice to hear..... i agree, that works good and great image. i would only crop it slightly at the bottom to remove a bit of that black background.

I like it the way it is. While the dark berm at the bottom is a bit distracting I think cropping it makes the trees look strange. Losing it does lighten the image feel a lot.

Thanks guys yes cropping the dark area off does make quite a difference to the image feel. This is what I had before I cropped it.

I like the original too, the narrow crop may be too extreme. I like seeing the green grass in the foreground. Maybe a 3:2 crop?

An extra row hmm yes I see what you mean. It would take a long time to grow an extra row of trees, even I ought to be able to learn photoshop quicker than that .
3x2 raven ok here it is. I lifted the fill light too to lighten the grass. I wanted to darken the mid distance trees but if I did it made the hedge row even darker and more distracting.



Think I'd better go back and do it again with an ND grad filter when it's stopped raining.

Actually what I was thinking didn't work as well as I hoped because the horizon ended up irritatingly at the center. The one you just posted was my second idea. Here is "the golden ratio" at the full decimal point value reported by google, 1.61803399:1. I'm liking the longer versions better, but I guess the difference is not worth arguing at this point.
