Not that much for this kind of photo - 45 out of 100 in Capture NX with no exposure compenastion, but I measured exposure very close to the sun when shooting and then lifted the shadow a bit and applied Neat Image in photoshop. More than this, the september sun was not overwhelming...

Down on the south coast,a wildlife preserve for birds near Eastbourne,UK.

Took these two back in January this year not long after having got my Canon 500d.

About half an hour between the two.The first was a jpg, tweaked the contrast a bit but otherwise as shot I think.tried to remove the lens flare unsuccessfully,so left alone.

The second after the sun had gone shot in Raw.Had to lighten the picture in levels but otherwise pretty much as shot,in particular the colour.

Nice. I like the green in the water on that last. The white striations in the one above are pretty cool too.
