How did you manage to freeze the action - or was it not as dark as it looks???
D50 camera with a nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 VR II lens. It was fairly dark but not as dark as it looks. By facing the camera into the sun created the silhouette effect, giving the image a "darker" look than what we were seeing.

    the whole set is incredible.

its metered off the orange sky which is why the wakeboarder is black and the sun is white.

There are some lovely moody shots here everyone well done and that surfer well just blown away. If it was mine I'd be selling it. Here's a little hand held experiment I tried last night as the sun went down. Not much thought or planning just a quick dash to see what I'd get. I saw this buttercup field between some houses so I tried a shot. At 1/8s I guess I didn't deserve to get much and I probably should have done a bit of noise reduction. Cropped the sun out of the image as it was just blown out but what do you all think did it work? I can't decide myself.
