I should mention that I used a canon 1.5x tele lens
Offhand I'd say the 1.5 tele was just a little too much for the IS to handle at the chosen shutter speed. Up the shutter speed or prop the camera against something. Except for the top of head(which probably moved) the rest, wings and all, look good.

Alot of the time I let the safety shift do the work on Tv or even Av for that matter. Whats your input on that? I guess I cant complain because it was a cloudy evening!
Thanks for you input

I have the Safety Shift on as well. I know the brightness makes a humongus difference in how a shot will turn out. Matter of fact, here in north Texas after about 3PM I put my camera away as most birdshots will be in the shadows and not worth fiddling with, certainly not worth posting

A couple of more great shots - the tele is doing you proud. Would you happen to know what type bird that is? If it were down here, I'd say a Martin - but he looks bigger than ours so then I'd say a Swallow of some kind.

Yea, I think they are Barn Swallows. Very active from 5PM till dusk.
