    Dull and gray today, but my backyard was visited by a couple of very large birds. Very distant too unfortunately. The red tailed hawk in the first one managed to find every perch with obstructions for the hour he hung out. I thought he was tough to capture until I spent an hour on the deck following this pileated woodpecker from limb to limb. Neither one got much closer than 100 feet.

    I had a little better success with the smaller birds like this pine warbler. They are Winter only residents here in Atlanta. They do make up for the goldfinches moving on.
