This bird flew down about 8 feet away. I caught him grabbing something. I couldn't tell what it was until after I was able to zoom in and crop it at home.

The larger bird is a cowbird being fed by a mature sparrow. Apparently cowbirds will lay an egg in a song birds nest and they will adopt and raise the fledgling.

    Finally!

Well, It has been a long dry Summer. WE finally have had rain this last week, the first real rain since early June. The rivers had been so low that the usual selection of Herons and Egrets were noticeable by their absence. However last Thursday they showed up on my side of the river. 3 Egrets and Two Herons were around for the weekend and here is a sampling of the shots I was able to get.
