    Pelicanos

Thatīs what they call these around here. I donīt understand a word these people are saying .

These are in back of a Peruvian fish market, where the fisherman come in and sell their fish right there on the beach. The pelicans hang around waiting for peope to feed them - they look healthy to me.

I thought this was one of our regular neighborhood red-tailed hawks, until it got closer and I saw it was a turkey vulture. Flying over the school parking lot.

After lunch, the birds fly into the cafeteria to feast on what the students leave behind

The campus of the high school I work at borders a small section of national park (the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.) So, we get all kinds of wild life: hawks, ravens, lots of other birds, red fox, coyotes, deer, etc. I was in the parking lot just after lunch, hoping to get some shots of a hawk. This is the first time I've ever seen one of these buggers, though. Amazing the amount and variety of wild life less than 10 miles from a major city!

    REGI birds...

    (wave) long time lurker.

Took these a couple weeks ago at REGI (Raptor Education Group Inc.) a private, non-profit bird-of-prey rehabilitation center in Northern Wisconsin. Canon Rebel XTi + Canon 70-200 f/4L IS, all images at 200mm.

A bald eagle rescued from the Exxon Valdez spill in Prince William Sound. ISO100, f/8, 1/200

Red-tailed hawk. Was shot and left for dead, lost an eye. ISO100, f/4, 1/1000

    Long-eared owl. ISO100, f/5.6, 1/160

Saw-Whet owl, about five inches tall. As a baby, nest was felled by a logger. Injuries prevented release.
    ISO 100, f/9, 1/100

Saw these two 'playing' around out back yesterday. Didn't have a TC on my 70-200, so they're cropped pretty bad, but I thought still worth sharing.

    Andrew--love the owl pictures!
Elena--the baby ducks are adorable and I really like the composition and texture.
