    Thanks for the kind words, and an excellent shot of that Crab spider, by the way.
    the black background is simple really. When you use a flash, if there is nothing to reflect the light, you end up with a black background.

    Finally got a macro lens...

    I've had my macro lens for two days, so still learning techniques. But it has been fun!
