Using these in conjunction with a set of Kenko Extension tubes, they cant be beat. All of my recent shots have been with the Tamron and the extension tubes. All are very reasonably priced. and are excellent equipment. hope this helps, if you have any questions, let me know.
Hi Bald Eagle I have a 2X Kenko converter are you familiar with converters and how do extention tubes compare ??I hope one day to get images as sharp as yours

    Hi Spot Focus
I have a 2x converter and extension tubes.
2x converters will give you 2x the focal length, but it will also make the focus 2x farther, so this will not be suitable for macro.
Extension tubes works great for macros. It extends the lens farther away from your camera, allowing you to focus much closer. On any lens, you can notice that when you focus closer, the lens moves out away from the camera. The extender tubes just does this at a much larger scale. Also because it has no lens elements, it does not degrade image quality, unlike close up lens and tele-extenders.

    Hope that helps

Sorry for the late reply. There is a world of difference between converters and Extension tubes, as was posted already, with the tubes, you lose no sharpness at all, I have never been happy with the quality of 2x converters. That is just my opinion however. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Norm, I really do appreciate your kind words, would you believe this guy was only a 1/4 of an inch long? the only reason I found him is, he was a white speck in a Sea of Green. thanks again.
