The dragonflies have finally started to emerge in larger numbers and more species. Here are some shots from today's walk around the pond at a local park.
The Hover shot was manually focused on a d'fly that was hovering consistently in the same area. The last one was a bit too dark as shot so I boosted the shadow detail in PP with ACDSee Pro5.

At 106 it was almost too hot for dragonflies. I had no success catching them in flight. This one caught the light just right for some interesting color.

looks like it might be one of the clubtail species. Have seen them here occasionally. Here is a sequence that I caught yesterday while shooting. First shot is just a nice look at an Amberwing. The sequence is of a territorial dispute between two male Elfin Skimmers, the victor finally claiming the preferred perch. Didn't want to post so many all at once but I just had to show the useable frames from the entire sequence.

I am sure we have some different species down here in Georgia. I don't think I have seen an amberwing before. Ain't a good burst mode great when you have a dispute or action.
Very nice Gabriel. Always like diagonal framing on damsel flies and the nice sharp eyes have it. The final butterfly draws me in with the colour and focus on the wing stem
