I've seen the Insect vs Sci Fi discussion several times, and it's so true. If it weren't for the tiny invertebrate world, Sci Fi would be a lot less detailed and elaborate, I believe.
Saw this huntsman having a rest outside my back door. He was very cooperative, not moving a muscle whilst I got very close with a Nikkor 60mm micro lens. It's a bit unnerving, having four eyes staring back at you. Length of his head+body was about 1.5cm or just over ½". Looked a lot bigger through the viewfinder!
