Gary, if you want a macro lens, I say get the 100 mm Canon. It is amazing: fast, sharp, and fun to use.

Yes! It rocks!
I was looking at the 100 Canon but the cheapest I found it was $400 and some change.
I just bought 2 21" Dell wide screen monitors. That sucked up my bank acct.
But I was looking at that Raynox for some time. It looks like fun.
Does it need a lot of light? Do I want to buy a ring light with it?

I assume not as I never use flash with my macros - prefer to work with natural light.

Looking for a good lens for a Canon XTi.
sorry for the delay in responding...
Yeah thats what I use ~ Raynox DCR-250 clip-on.... http://raynox.co.jp/english/dcr/dcr2...exdcr250eg.htm
But be warned DOF is very very small, but it's so cheap that if you don't like it, you can allways ebay it, and only lose a $20

I hope you don't mind me posting 2
The first is a thrips on a hydrangea which I like for the colour and the distortion of the hydrangea. Apparently they like LCD screens.

The second is a flesh fly which i had published in a magazine over here but they rotated it 90 degrees for some reason.

Both taken with a pentax *istD and cosina macro lens with a 2x teleconverter to give twice life size, lit with a pentax flash.

Where to post???
I went back and forth about where to post this (the flower thread or the insect thread). In the end I decided to post it here because I need an ID on the insect. The flower I know is a thistle.
Any guesses?

Still no guesses?
Here's a couple more of the thistle and bee. I still don't know what kind of insect this is. It really was the irridescent green color that you see on your monitor if that helps with the ID.
Canon XTI and 70-300mm IS lens
