    Geoff,

That is kind of scary macro land. I thought I had fallen into a Roger Dean album cover. Probably should not view such images just before bed time...

Thanks - I got lucky actually - it was hand held and blowing a little in the wind - so I was rocking back
and forth rather than twiddling the focus ring.

I see what you meen kgosden it does look reminiscent of an old album cover. Showing our age now. It's a great crop Geoff especially with the little greenfly underneath. Yes a bit of luck is nice but you need to be in the right place, right position, right angle, have a good eye for composition and have all the settings nailed as well so I'd say it was more skill than luck. You are too modest.
Around every picture there's a corner & round every corner there's a picture
    - the fun's in finding them

    Geoff,

Not sure where you found that in England, but it looks like Mountain Laurel. From Wikipedia, "Kalmia latifolia, commonly called Mountain-laurel or Spoonwood, is a species flowering plant in the blueberry family, Ericaceae, that is native to the eastern United States."

I s'pose these also qualify as flowers (being as they are) - here's some of our
lavender in our back garden - just trying to see how my Tamron fares on the D90...
Merely resized - could be bothered to mess around with it!
