Glad to see you got back OK. I find those reds very difficult to get often mine just looked fluorescent. Haven't tried any with my new Olympus yet but here's a blue geranium shot. I'm just getting to grips with the very different DoF on a dslr. I think this is the same type of flower that you captured recently Prospero. This was shot with the 40-150 kit lens I was quite pleased with it as it's not supposed to be a macro lens. Focus distance was probably around 1.5 to 2 feet away.
Around every picture there's a corner & round every corner there's a picture
- the fun's in finding them
Here's another shot cropped closer I was amaized in this that the DoF was less than the depth of the flower. Might even have to get my tripod out. Plus those 10 Megapixel images do allow a lot of cropping. File size is a bit large though - I'm going to have to start deleting stuff

A few shots of a rose. The 1st one is direct flash from above. The 2nd one I bounced the flash off of a wall. I used the flash in the 3rd one too, but I don't remember how.

I could tell you but I wouldn't want you to get all pissy if it's the wrong brand
Phil, that indeed looks exactly the same as the flower I shot. Great shots, I think you nailed the DOF.
Faisal, nice set of pictures. Beautiful colours.
Lukas, nice shots. I really like the last one. The post processing works really well there. About the first two, even though the one with bounce flash is lit more natural, I think I prefer the more contrasty look of the first.

Thanks Prospero, I think it's beginners luck at the moment really as I'm just experimenting. I'm getting to like this dslr though.
Faisal that cream lilly & red flower shot are brilliant, I love that vibrant red colour.
Lukas I agree with prospero I prefer the first contrasty shot, really nice.
Calico welcome to the forum, they don't look like beginner shots to me they are really good, especially the last one, nice colour sharpness DoF & composition. Couldn't you have put the watermark a bit more to the edge though? Care to share some details i.e. camera, lens settings etc?
