    Had a day out with my new/alternative/bridging lens Sigma 28 - 200
generally very happy with it, it is as much usefull as anything else.
The quality seems fine - maybe not quite as sharp as the 17 - 70 - but still
    pretty good on the whole
This shot was taken at 95mm which is equiv of 145mm in 35mm film

I haven't bothered. I just say, "Honey, what flower is this?"

Here's another flower I took with that same lens on the same day
I liked this one as it was yellow - most of them were orange

Geoff, that last one is awesome. I like the first one too, but I want to PP it to add some contrast ( I know how you feel about PP)

toriaj ~ I believe you are talking about PPing the Daf/Nars or whatever it was
All I have done with that one is to brighten it about a 1/3 ~ 1/2 stop as I could quite judge the exposure at the time and went for a tad under to be on the safe side.
I am not against PPing as such - it's purely my personal choice that I like things to look basically realistic or natural (most of the time). I guess I have seen to many photographic books with photos that look so artificial and unrealistically contrasty and over saturated that I am leaning towards less PPing
So - is this what you had in mind - bear in mind I am still trying to retain a degree of trueness to the actual flower - ie the slightly inverted white petals were not quite white - but a sort of creamy white - the yellow was more like the left hand one really - but the more contrast version is Ok/acceptable

Yes, I do like the new version more. I might have tried to bring out the variation in the white petals, but I don't know if it would have worked. Also the yellow looks much warmer, that was caused by brightening?

Gosh - sorry guys I seem to be posting more than others at the moment - but then it does go in fits and starts...
Here's a group of Orchids from the Glass house at RHS Wisley, Surrey, England.
More from a series of shots trying out the Sigma 28 - 200 recently
Again - this lens is very acceptable - not as sharp as the other one I have - but very pleasing anyway
